About the Region
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the most biologically diverse areas on Earth. Its dense montane and lowland forest has survived the last ice age, making it one of the oldest habitats in Africa. The park is divided into four sectors — Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo — each offering gorilla trekking permits and a distinct landscape experience.
Beyond gorilla trekking, Bwindi supports over 120 mammal species, 350 bird species, and 220 butterfly species. The surrounding Batwa communities offer cultural encounters that add depth to any visit.
