About Silverback Lodge

Silverback Lodge sits on a ridge at approximately 2,600 metres (8,553 feet) above sea level in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi, overlooking the forest canopy. Part of the Marasa Africa collection, the lodge was rebranded and redesigned in 2025 and features 12 rooms called "Nests," each with forest views, a private patio, and a sunken bathtub. The park headquarters is a five-minute walk away, which makes morning trekking departures convenient.

The lodge operates the Wellnest spa, offering treatments aimed at recovery after gorilla trekking. Beyond the spa, guests can join coffee experiences with local farmers, basket-weaving workshops, pottery sessions, and visits to Batwa heritage sites. These community-focused activities are part of a broader programme supporting local artisans, education, and health initiatives in the surrounding area.

Silverback Lodge uses solar energy and maintains eco-friendly waste management systems. The combination of high-altitude forest views, proximity to the trekking starting point, and community engagement programmes makes it well suited for travelers who want a luxury stay with a tangible connection to the local area.
