About Mweya Safari Lodge
Mweya Safari Lodge occupies the tip of the Mweya Peninsula inside Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The lodge has 48 rooms — 32 standard rooms, 12 deluxe rooms, 2 suites, the Queen's Cottage, and the Presidential Cottage — all with private balconies. The position on the peninsula provides unobstructed views across the Kazinga Channel to the south and the Rwenzori Mountains to the north, depending on weather conditions.
Facilities include an infinity pool that overlooks the channel, a spa with sauna and steam bath, a fitness centre, and conference rooms. The Captain's Mess restaurant serves meals on the upper floor with channel views, and a pool bar and terrace dining area offer additional eating options. The lodge also provides a 24-hour front desk and currency exchange services.
Mweya is often chosen as the primary base for exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park because of its central location within the park. Game drives depart directly from the lodge, and the Kazinga Channel boat cruise — one of Uganda's most popular wildlife activities — launches from the nearby jetty. Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge is roughly a 45-minute drive. The lodge is well suited for travelers who want a full-service property with a range of room types inside the park itself.
