About Paraa Safari Lodge
Paraa Safari Lodge was built in 1954 and is the oldest and most established accommodation inside Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge sits on a hilltop in the heart of the park with views across the surrounding landscape and the River Nile from private balconies. It has 54 rooms across several categories — cottages, suites, double rooms, twin rooms, and single rooms — making it one of the larger properties in the park.
The Captain's Table restaurant occupies the upper floor and offers views of the Nile during meals. BBQ nights are arranged periodically, and additional dining options include a pool bar overlooking the river. The swimming pool is a welcome facility after dusty game drives on the northern bank. A business centre, 24-hour internet access, and conference facilities make the lodge suitable for groups and events as well as leisure travelers.
Paraa sits at the point where the ferry crosses the Nile, giving it direct access to game drives on both the northern and southern banks. The Nile boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls departs from a jetty near the lodge, and the hike to the top of the falls is also arranged from here. As the longest-operating lodge in the park, Paraa has a historical character that newer properties lack. It is well suited for families and travelers who want a full-service lodge with a range of room types and activities in a central park location.
